ABOUT
David McGlynn is amongst Irelands most innovative and talented artists. Born in Dublin in 1969, he graduated from the National College of Art and Design with a BA in Fine Art Sculpture and studied Foundry Engineering and Bronze Casting in Belfast. David has travelled widely and has lived in Scandinavia and Vietnam which has greatly influenced his approach and appreciation of life and the journey we all share.

From his solo show in 2007, at the Leinster Gallery he has exhibited and sold his work throughout galleries in Ireland, UK, Europe and the USA.
His work is part of both public and private collections around the world including the Office of Public Works [OPW] in Dublin to the private collections of Dermot Desmond and Bono.

Many of the themes are centered around the human figure and nature which have been an endless source of inspiration and joy to him.
David says “my work comes from a desire to share my experiences and celebrate life. I am aware how precious life is and when my eyes truly open, hidden behind a veil of thoughts and conditioning is an underlying beauty to life waiting to be enjoyed“.

David’s work focuses mainly on the use of bronze casting and has evolved to incorporate the use of other materials like copper, stainless steel and glass in combination with bronze. It is this fusion which has for him, reinvented the traditional approach to the use of bronze to a more contemporary, colourful and ultimately more engaging medium.

Unbound by convention, McGlynn's visual work is continually exploring new ideas and possibilities to express life through form and space. His observational and intuitive response to people, places, music and nature has a captivating and intriguing effect.
